MOVIE REVIEW: Sex and The City 2

So because i was so hopelessly devoted to the 1st movie i decided to do a review on the 2nd. We all know the 2nd movie has been getting some really bad reviews from fans and critics alike, so i decided to break it down for everyone. (In my own opinion of course)

There were many great things difficult to live up to in 1st SATC. First of all, it was very refreshing after 4 years, to see the four women together. The chemistry between all of them is so real, it makes the movie very enjoyable to watch. It doesn't even look like their acting. Even if the movie wasn't AMAZING, i'm sure people would have said it was anyway because so much hype was built around it.

In SATC 1 many monumental and memorable things happened. I don't know about you, but i went and saw the movie 3 times, just to see the Vogue photo shoot. Carrie and her wedding dress, and the bird in her head. The Fashion Week scene. All things that stand out, memorable parts in the movie. Then there were the monumental things that helped shape the store line. The awful wedding scene. Big leaving Carrie at the alter. Steve cheating on Miranda. Miranda telling Big not to ever get married (bitch), and how if she going to break that to her bestfriend? These were so many things that happened in the movie that kept you interested for the 2 hours and 30 minutes you were in there. And of course the fashion was executed effortlessly yet flawlessly throughout the movie.

Now those are all the things where SATC 2 kind of fell short. Nothing monumental happened in the movie. At all. Nothing to mold an interesting story line. Which kind of left the movie a tad bit boring. Almost like an episode of the show. Little small problems, that would have been covered on the show, not stretched out for 2 hours and 40 minutes. And the fashion was good, but not great. It didn't seem effortless in this movie. It looked like they were either REALLY trying in one scene, or not trying hard enough in the next. Like Carrie would have on a full outfit chilling in her house, with Christian Loubitons on her feet. And anytime Miranda is the fashionista of the movie, something ain't right. And again, no outfits that were "so amazing" that stuck out. I remember when Samantha walked out of the Gucci store in the 1st SATC with all those bags, i wanted to slap my neighbor. Or Carrie in the opening scene of with her Dior Extremes on. Or Charlotte at Fashion Week with her Fendi bag. Those are things worth remembering in the 1st movie. In this one... nothing worth remembering.

With all that being said, to be completely honest i didn't think the movie was totally tragic. It had some comic relief to it, and it did still entertain to a certain degree. It just didn't live up to the 1st one. Not even a little bit. There are no scenes that i can say i remember that made me want to go see the movie again. There is no outfit that just blew me away. It was just "ok". And if you were faithful to the show like i was, and to the 1st movie, then we both know that OK is never OK for SATC. I'm a fond believer that when something is GREAT, let it stay GREAT.
